A Little About Us  8.16.03
   Veterans for Peace is a national organization of veterans who believe that their military service, professional expertise, and life experience have provided them a special perspective from which to assess America's social, economic, and political health.
    Organized in forty state chapters, our veterans of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces have served in every American conflict from World War II and Korea, through Panama and Grenada, to the liberation of Kuwait and the Iraq war.
    Veterans for Peace Chapter 16 serves Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia. It has local branches throughout the area. Together with associate members, who share our vision and support our mission, we are a cadre of activists committed to creating a more peaceful world.

"We envision a world in which no group or individual may fairly claim they must resort to violence to secure and protect their rights."

   Having dutifully served our nation, we do hereby affirm our greater responsibility to serve the cause of world peace by promoting the non-violent resolution of conflict at home and abroad. To this end we will work with others to:

   Partner   with like-minded persons and organizations in order to multiply the power and effect or our endeavors.

   Educate   our compatriots on the vital importance of social and political action to achieve the world we envision.

   Abolish   war as an instrument of foreign and international policy.

   Create public awareness of the total costs of war;
